Boruto Episode 133

Boruto Episode 133

A Village Without Sasuke

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations episode 133 wasn’t the most exciting of the flashback arc. The majority of this episode involved Boruto and Naruto training together to create some kind of collaborative jutsu. However, they don’t succeed, and I’m sure the one time it’ll work is when they need it most.

At the end of the arc Urashiki is likely going to be defeated by their collaborative jutsu (the very first time they pull it off). But what I’m more interested in is what this collaborative jutsu is going to be. It seems clear that it’s going to be a Rasengan, but what’s going to make it special?

would guess that it’s going to be a dual-type Wind/Lightning Rasengan, but Naruto doesn’t even know how to use Wind nature jutsu at this point in time. And if Boruto infuses his Lightning chakra into a normal Rasengan they make together, that could cause problems for the Naruto canon.

My guess is that they may simply create a Big Ball Rasengan, but that’s not exactly anything special. I mean, it would be special for their skill levels, but Jiraiya can do that on his own, so it’s not like Boruto and Naruto need to do it too.

Of course, there’s always the possibility that they never successfully manage to create a collaborative jutsu. That would kind of be disappointing for the arc, but it could have an impact on the series later on. If that’s the case, maybe once he gets back to the future, Boruto will as his dad to create a collaborative jutsu with him.

I almost think that would be the better way to go about it.

Boruto and Sasuke

In this episode we also get more suspicion regarding Sasuke and Boruto’s identities. Jiraiya knows who Sasuke is, though he pretends like it was just a joke. Meanwhile, Sakura is beginning to figure out that Boruto may know something about Sasuke as well.

So starting off with Sasuke and Jiraiya, I’ve said it before, but it doesn’t matter if Jiraiya knows Sasuke’s identity. That wouldn’t change anything as far as future events are concerned. So I actually expected Sasuke to reveal everything to Jiraiya — that would give them the greatest chance of success.

But instead, Jiraiya promises not to question their identities any longer as long as Sasuke shares everything he knows about Urashiki. However, there’s one problem. Sasuke mentions abilities Urashiki has, and Jiraiya has seen Urashiki fight, so why does Jiraiya not question the fact that Urashiki has Rinnegan?

As far as Jiraiya knows, there’s only one person on the planet with Rinnegan — Nagato. And to make things more confusing, he thinks Nagato is dead at this point. So shouldn’t the fact that Urashiki has Rinnegan be something he questions Sasuke about?

Sakura doesn’t know quite as much about Boruto and (adult) Sasuke as Jiraiya does, but she knows they’re up to something. And after confronting Boruto about the letter she found leads nowhere, she heads of to ask Sasuke directly.

My guess is that Sasuke is going to tell her a partial truth. He’ll probably admit that the Sarada the letter is from is his daughter. But, he might say that the Sasuke referred to is his son who has gone missing, and that he and Boruto are searching for him.

This letter may even be why Sakura chooses the name Sarada for her daughter later on.

Seeing into the Future

Towards the end of the episode Urashiki makes the bold claim that he can see into the future. At first, this seems entirely possible given the vast number of abilities he has. However, most of his abilities are directly connected to his dōjutsu, which he can swap between.

So far I believe we’ve seen him use Byakugan, Rinnegan, and Rinne Sharingan. The problem comes when you realize that his claimed future sight ability is connected to the Rinnegan. Maybe I’m forgetting something, but I don’t believe the Rinnegan has ever had an ability like that.

We explored the abilities of the Rinnegan in great detail during the Pain and Madara arcs of Naruto Shippūden, so I think if the Rinnegan had that ability, it would have come up. So what’s the deal with Urashiki’s future sight?

The first explanation is simply that it makes no sense because the Rinnegan doesn’t have an ability like that. The second explanation is that the Rinnegan does have an ability like that which we’ve simply never seen. And the third explanation is that it’s a trick.

Somehow I doubt the third explanation is going to be the real one, but I’d prefer if this was the case. As for how he could be faking his future sight, I’ve thought of two possible ways it could be done, but they both have major issues.

One of them involves using his Byakugan, but that’s already void because he’s using his Rinnegan. The other involves using the Rinnegan to create a shadow version of himself like we saw Madara do, but if he did this then Sasuke would know about. There’s really no good explanation I can think of.

Conclusion

So what are your thoughts on Boruto episode 133? Do you think Boruto and Naruto will successfully create a collaborative jutsu? And if so, what do you think it will be? Also, how do you think Urashiki’s future sight ability can be explained? Let me know in the comments.
