That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Episode 28

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Episode 28

Myulan the Majin

TenSura Season 2 episode 28 definitely introduced some important information. But throughout the entire episode, I was just waiting for something, anything, to happen. It’s kind of crazy how I get so bored while watching TenSura, yet I’m already heavily invested in another isekai in the form of Jobless Reincarnation.

I think one of my main issues with this series is how often it throws random, slice of life scenes into the mix. Was there really any need for the onsen scene? Fan service, I guess. But it wasn’t even good fan service. That said, every image in this review is from that scene — because why not?

Myulan is a good character. Of course, I’m only saying that because she’s cute. She hasn’t gotten enough development yet for me to actually say that. But I do think Myulan will be sticking around for the rest of the series as a citizen of Tempest.

She might be a very minor antagonist for a short period of time. But it seems obvious that she’s going to join Tempest for the long-term. And, I think the reveal that she’s a majin is an important part of this.

I may be misremembering, but wasn’t it a majin that attempted to turn the orc lord into a demon lord? And in one of my previous episode reviews, I mentioned how I thought Milim had already said that Rimuru has the ability to become a demon lord in the future. So if a majin joins tempest, doesn’t that mean Rimuru can now become a demon lord?

As for why he would become a demon lord, well, this episode also introduced some nations that aren’t going to be very friendly with Tempest.

Blumund, Falmuth, and the Western Holy Church

While Dwargon and Eurazania were mentioned briefly in this episode, Blumund, Falmuth, and the Western Holy Church were the three “countries” highlighted. I’m not sure if the Western Holy Church is actually an independent country, but I’m going to assume it functions as one.

The Kingdom of Blumund recently joined into a defense pact with Tempest. If Blumund were to be attacked by another nation, Tempest would aid them. And if Tempest were to be attacked, Blumund would aid them in return. That seems pretty important, but I don’t actually think Blumund is going to be a major player in the series.

It’s clear that they’re going to be involved in some way when Tempest is attacked by Falmuth and the Western Holy Church. However, I either see them being relatively little help to Tempest or potentially even turning on Tempest due to being afraid of the other two nations.

We spent so little time in the episode going over the pact between Tempest and Blumund that I don’t see it being all that important. It’s not like Dwargon or Eurazania — both of which have had fairly extensive buildup by comparison. Did we even get the name of the king? A baron was mentioned, but is a baron ruling a kingdom?

As for Falmuth and the Western Holy Church, it’s been pretty clear that they would be antagonistic countries. The church is always an antagonist in anime. And as for Falmuth, we were already told that they’re one of Tempest’s primary competitors when it comes to trade.

I could see the Kingdom of Falmuth being defeated and pacified relatively easily. Once they learn that setting up trade relations with Tempest benefits them, I’m sure they’ll change their tune. The church, not so much.

The Otherworlders

Probably the most interesting aspect of this episode is the existence of the “otherworlders” within the Kingdom of Falmuth. I kind of remember the headmaster of the school Rimuru teaches at being an otherworlder. If that’s correct, then the existence of otherworlders besides Rimuru, in general, isn’t new.

But, these Falmuth otherworlders bring up an interesting question: What will Rimuru do about them? Obviously, he would probably want to befriend and recruit them. And considering one of these otherworlders views the Kingdom of Falmuth effectively as his captor, that may be relatively easy to achieve.

However, I don’t see it going that smoothly in reality. The other two don’t seem like they would be as easy to convince. Sure, they’d probably want the more modern amenities that Tempest provides. But I’m not sure how they’d feel about living under the rule of a slime.

So, why is all of this that interesting? How would Rimuru react if he had to end up killing them? Not only are they human, but they’re from his same world. I think it’s very possible that things could end up with Rimuru having to make that decision. And I think that decision would be a big moment for his character.

It could even coincide with him potentially gaining the title of demon lord. That would be pretty perfect for the Western Holy Church. They could say that there’s a new, monster, demon lord who kills humans. That would be a surefire way to get some other countries to fight against Tempest.

Oh, and while not related to the otherworlders, I do want to mention Milim’s role in all of this. She was shown with Carrion at the end of the episode, and in the OP we see her wearing armor and appearing to be going against Rimuru. Is this just her wanting to fight a formidable opponent? Or is there more to it?

Conclusion
