JoJo’s Part 5 Episode 10

JoJo’s Part 5 Episode 10

Hitman Team

In this week’s episode of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind, we see the continuation of the fight between Narancia and Formaggio, and get formally introduced to the hitman team which is attempting to kidnap Trish Una.

One thing to keep in mind regarding the hitman team is that while Formaggio is a member of it, Sale and Zucchero were not. Those two were simply after Polpo’s treasure and had nothing to do with the plot to kidnap Trish and find out the identity of the boss.

I also have to say that I’m liking the names of the various Passione members. They don’t seem to all be named after food, but a good amount of them are.

  • Pannacotta – An Italian dessert
  • (N)arancia – Orange
  • Abbacchio – Lamb
  • Polpo – Octopus
  • Zucchero – Sugar
  • Sale – Salt
  • Formaggio – Cheese
  • Pesci – Fish
  • Sorbet – A frozen desert
  • Gelato – Another frozen desert

Aerosmith vs. Little Feet

Last week the fight between Narancia Ghirga and Formaggio began and we got a glimpse at the powers of their stands, Aerosmith and Little Feet respectively. We learned that Aerosmith is a propeller-powered fighter plane with machine guns and bombs, and Little Feet has the ability to shrink anything it cuts.

This week, our understanding of these two stands was increased as we learned more about their abilities and what can be done with them. So, let’s start with Little Feet since it’s abilities were explained first in this episode.

I’m not sure if we previously knew that cutting objects was a prerequisite for shrinking them, but that’s something I learned this time around. However, it seems that he doesn’t need to cut himself in order to shrink, because the mechanic for shrinking himself is slightly different than with other things.

When he shrinks another person or object, they slowly shrink over time, as we see with Narancia. However, as we saw last episode, he can apparently shrink himself immediately. It’s also explained that if a person is shrunk, everything on their person at the time also shrinks.

Does this mean Formaggio could shrink the whole world by cutting the ground? Can he shrink the space between two points similar to The Hand from part 4? Theoretically, this could be a very powerful stand just like The Hand was, though the other members of the hitman team make fun of it.

When a stand user is shrunk by Little Feet’s ability, their stand shrinks as well and loses power due to this. This would be bad for a classic punching-ghost stand, but unfortunately for Formaggio, most stands can do more than just attack nowadays.

While shrinking things takes time, Formaggio can unshrink objects or people immediately. He’s able to use this ability in a variety of ways, one of which is to unshrink a pen he was holding, so that the force of the pen growing in size launches him away from danger.

As for Aerosmith, we learn that not only does it have machine guns and bombs, but it has a CO2-detecting radar as well. By using this radar, Narancia is able to detect the locations of potential enemies, although it’s indiscriminate.

While not the best stand to use in a crowd due to its indiscriminate nature and massive firepower, Aerosmith is the perfect stand for detecting unwanted pursuers, and then taking them out in a hail of bullets and explosions.

After Formaggio is discovered by Aerosmith and flees into a nearby sewer, Aerosmith is able to track his movements by using its radar. However, once cornered, Formaggio reverts himself to normal size, which renders the weapons of the significantly shrunk Aerosmith to be useless.

Sorbet & Gelato

Next, we’re introduced to the nine-man hitman team which is tracking the Jo-Bros and plans to kidnap Trish. However, they don’t appear to be nine strong anymore, because two of their members, Sorbet and Gelato, were killed previously for getting too close to learning the boss’ identity.

But, although they’re killed before we really get to meet them, Sorbet and Gelato are interesting in that they’re the first same-sex couple I can think of in the JoJo’s series. I believe same-sex couples become more common later on in the series, but our first introduction to them is a grim one.

Sorbet and Gelato

After the deaths of Sorbet and Gelato, the hitman team stopped trying to uncover the identity of the boss, that is, until they learned that he had a daughter. The team saw his daughter as a way to easily gain access to knowledge about the boss.

Of the living members of the hitman team, the only named one so far besides Formaggio is Pesci, a man who looks like a carrot. It’s not yet known what Pesci’s stand ability is, but what we do know is that he doesn’t appear to be as “hardcore” as the other members of the hitman team.

Pesci prefers to drink milk over espresso, and seems to be afraid of violence. Because of this, I’m predicting either his stand ability is going to be something extremely suited for assassinations, or he’s going to undergo some sort of character transformation when he’s on the job which makes him more aggressive.

Speaking of stands which are perfect for assassinations, in this flashback about the hitman squad we see just how Formaggio is able to use Little Feet to carry out his missions. In this example, he shrinks a car, drops it into his victim’s drink, and then unshrinks it when the victim leaves the restaurant.

Conclusion

Overall, I thought this was a pretty good episode, although I do wish the fight between Narancia and Formaggio had come to a close. Instead, next week’s episode seems like it will be the conclusion of their fight, and then we should get Fugo’s mini arc starting the following week.

So what did you think of this week’s episode of JoJo’s Part 5? Let me know your thoughts, along with your guesses for what kinds of stands Sorbet and Gelato had, in the comments. I don’t know if their stands ever actually get revealed, so that makes them the perfect candidates for theorizing.
