That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Episode 47

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Episode 47

Clayman the Weakling

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Part 2 Episode 47 was a pretty good episode of TenSura. But I wouldn’t call it a pretty good episode of anime overall. It was alright. When you compare it to the good anime this season, it doesn’t stand up.

Anyway, I still don’t really understand what a majin is within the context of this series. My best guess is still that they’re a person who has a large magicule count. But that seems to include a lot of characters.

It would be nice if we got a real definition. But, I suppose that’s asking for a bit much when you consider that we don’t even have a definition for what a demon lord is. Despite what Clayman claimed, he was definitely not a demon lord (until he awoke at the end of this episode).

Also, I find it funny that Clayman talks down to Rimuru and Shion by calling them mere majin while referring to himself as a demon lord. And yet, Clayman is recognized as the weakest of the Moderate Harlequinn Alliance — of which the other members are majin.

That also doesn’t even take into consideration the fact that Rimuru has the actual demon lord title, unlike Clayman. Clayman’s such a loser. And I remember people were trying to convince me that he’s actually a threat back in Season 1 or the first part of Season 2.

Even back then I called out Clayman as a weakling. How did this guy manage to convince the other (real) demon lords that he was one of them? There’s no way Guy actually believed that Clayman was a true demon lord.

Also, speaking of Guy, it now makes sense why he said Milim entered the arena on Clayman’s side of her own free will.

Despite Clayman always putting on an act and talking himself up, it’s pretty clear that he recognized how weak he was deep down. Even before he was defeated by Shion and we got the flashback that told us he was weak, there were plenty of signs.

For example, didn’t it seem strange to you that Clayman decided to fight Shion while leaving Rimuru to Milim? I’d imagine that a true demon lord wouldn’t lower themself to fighting the subordinate of another demon lord.

Just by doing that, Clayman is acknowledging that he’s no match for Rimuru and that Shion’s power level is more appropriate for him to fight against. But, as we saw, even the “lowly majin” Shion was way too powerful for Clayman. He didn’t stand a chance.

Oh, and let’s not forget that Shion isn’t even the strongest of Rimuru’s subordinates. There’s Veldora, Benimaru, and Diablo who are above her. You could probably make arguments for Souei or Hakurou to be above her as well.

And, although I’m not a Shion fan in any way, I’ll admit that it was satisfying to see her slap Clayman around the way she did. When she had him on the ground and asked if she could finish him off, I almost expected Rimuru to tell her to leave him out of pity.

We know Rimuru has no problem with killing people who make him angry — something Clayman has definitely done. And of course, Rimuru is going to kill Clayman next week. But Clayman just looked so pathetic that it seemed like Rimuru might spare him in exchange for information on his master.

I guess even Clayman isn’t going to rat out his comrades, though.

The Final Battle

The final episode of TenSura Season 2 is also going to include the final battle between Rimuru and Clayman. Something tells me that, even with Clayman now awoken as a true demon lord, there isn’t going to be much of a fight.

Even if he now has a lot more magic power, this is still Clayman we’re talking about. He’s a loser and a coward. He still won’t stand a chance against someone like Rimuru. In fact, even Shion might still be able to take him in that form.

But, honestly, the real reason why I think Rimuru is going to wipe the floor with Clayman is actually that it’s the final episode of the season. That means most of the episode is going to be what I call “cool down” content after the fight.

We’re going to need a scene of the other demon lords acknowledging Rimuru as one of them. And then there’s probably going to be a little discussion of who Clayman’s master could be — Guy and Milim might have an idea.

The other demon lords might acknowledge Veldora as well. And, let’s not forget, Rimuru is going to have to go home to Tempest and they’re probably going to have a celebration there.

At the very end of the episode, I’m sure there will also be a scene catching up with some villains of the series. We might see Laplace, Tear, and Footman, or demon lord Kazaream, or the Kirito-looking guy who’s actually the one pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

Basically, because this is the final episode of the season, there’s going to be a lot of content that isn’t the fight between Rimuru and Clayman. So based on that, I’m expecting that maybe Rimuru will just absorb Clayman and all the souls within him.

Conclusion

What do you think of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Episode 47? Was this your favorite episode of the season? Am I still giving Clayman too little credit? And is there anyone else who works under Rimuru who you would say is stronger than Shion? Let me know in the comments.
