Mushoku Tensei Part 2 Episode 10

Mushoku Tensei Part 2 Episode 10

Dragon God Orsted

While I may still like one of the final episodes from Part 1 more, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 Episode 10 was definitely the best episode of this season. There was great suspense, action, animation, development, everything.

Right from the start, the episode goes all in by implying that a member of Dead End ends up dead (see what I did there?). Ruijerd was the member who appeared most likely to be killed off. But, as we later find out, it was actually Rudy.

The killing of Rudy itself didn’t end up mattering much, though. Well, other than that it showed just how outmatched Dead End is when they go up against one of the Seven Great Powers — in this case, Dragon God Orsted.

According to the Human God, who’s somehow related to the Seven Great Powers who are also referred to as gods despite existing within reality, Orsted is the strongest being in the world. And that’s even taking the Technique God into consideration, who’s ranked #1 above Orsted.

It’s unclear why exactly the Technique God is considered #1 and Orsted #2 given this information. The Human God said that Orsted would win in an all-out fight even with his full power sealed. And, while Orsted’s title of Dragon God makes sense, I have no idea what a Technique God is.

Of all the crazy stuff we learned about Orsted in this episode, though, the craziest has to be that he’s on the Central Continent. The Central Continent is supposed to be the weakest continent. And yet, that’s where Orsted is.

Also, let’s not forget that the red dragons are also there. Why is the supposed weakest continent home to beasts that are tough for even the Seven Great Powers to take down?

Cursed Children

Just last week, we learned of the existence of “blessed children,” those who were born with some sort of superhuman ability. The only confirmed blessed child we know of is Zanoba, who was born with superhuman strength. But, I have a feeling Rudy is a blessed child as well due to his immense mana pool.

Anyway, this week we learned of the existence of “cursed children,” those who were born with a curse of some type. Orsted is a cursed child, and it turns out that he has multiple curses.

So far, we know of two of Orsted’s curses, but we know he has more than that. The first curse is the one that makes all creatures from this world fear and hate him. That’s why Ruijerd and Eris were terrified of his mere presence and why the ox ran off the cliff to escape him.

We don’t know the specifics of his second curse, but the Human God told Rudy that it’s what limits Orsted’s power. Without that curse holding him back, Orsted would be strong enough to destroy the entire world.

Now, while Ruijerd himself isn’t a cursed child, there is a curse that was placed on all of the Sperds. This curse originated with Laplace, who passed it on to the rest of the Sperd tribe. Based on the fact that Laplace had green hair, we can assume he is/was a Sperd himself.

Also, based on his name, and the fact that Sperds are a tribe of demons, I’m going to assume that Laplace is the Demon God of the Seven Great Powers.

Oh, and since the curse of the Sperds has been slowly washed away over time, does that imply Orsted could somehow break the curse that limits his power?

Nanahoshi

Although we really know nothing about her, I want to discuss Nanahoshi, the girl who was traveling with Orsted, for a bit. From what I remember, we saw Orsted at the very end of Part 1 and Nanahoshi wasn’t with him at that point.

So is she a relatively new traveling companion for him? Has she always served him? Does he actually serve her? We simply don’t know. But, they do seem to be at least on somewhat equal terms considering Orsted healed Rudy after Nanahoshi intervened.

I’m going to assume that Nanahoshi ranks beneath Orsted, but that he trusts her judgment enough to listen to what she has to say. And she probably had a good point regarding why they shouldn’t leave Rudy to die, which is why he was spared.

Was Rudy spared because of his connection to the Human God? Perhaps Nanahoshi pointed out that he could lead Orsted to the Human God. Was he spared because of his Laplace-like amount of mana? Was he spared because he’s an otherworlder who isn’t affected by Orsted’s curses?

In my mind, any or all of these could be the correct answer. The last of those reasons may be the most correct, though. After all, Orsted seemed to have knowledge of another timeline in which Rudy doesn’t exist. So perhaps Nanahoshi picked up on the fact that Rudy’s very existence is an anomaly.

There’s one final thing I want to point out with regards to Nanahoshi, and that’s her name. Nanahoshi (七星) means Seven Stars. Does that imply there are others like her? For example, is there a Rokuhoshi (Six Stars)?

I just think she has a very suspicious name. There has to be a meaning behind it. I refuse to believe the name Nanahoshi is random.
