KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3 Episode 11 Review

The Guild Saves Darkness

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3 Episode 11 might have been the best episode of the season. Season 3 definitely ended on a high note with this one. It was one of the funniest episodes and had some pretty emotional parts, as well.

To start, I want to go over some of the comedy, like Megumin’s entrance. Apparently, Kazuma and Aqua didn’t invite Megumin to participate in their plan to save Darkness. I assume they decided that she’d only cause trouble. And to their credit, they were right.

Megumin and Yunyun came up with their own plan to save Darkness. And by that, I mean Megumin came up with a rough plan and tricked Yunyun into going along with it. It’s clear from what Yunyun says that she originally didn’t want to be involved. But, since her friend Megumin asked, she had to agree.

Megumin then decides to cast explosion magic in the middle of town because Aldarp bet she wouldn’t. But she was somehow able to prevent the entire town from getting blown away. It looked like she sandwiched two explosion spells together to counter each other. However, I thought there was a much easier solution.

Why didn’t Kazuma simply use his mana drain skill on Megumin? I assume that would have stopped her explosion spell from firing.

Anyway, after Megumin uses her magic, she’s out of commission. And it’s at this point that the other adventurers join in to help. Specifically, Dust and Keith lead a rebellion against the town guards by faking police brutality. I’m really glad that Dust made an appearance in this last episode. This might have been my favorite part.

If we get a fourth season, Dust better make a return. He’s the best supporting character.

Divorcedness Rejoins the Party

Let’s get the title of this section out of the way. Darkness is now a divorcée since she technically got married. Yes, Kazuma and Aqua interrupted the ceremony. But all four of the main characters seem to acknowledge that, legally speaking, Darkness was married.

The reason she’s no longer married is that Aldarp has gone missing (more on that later). Since he abandoned his wife, the marriage is dissolved. And as Kazuma points out, that makes Darkness a virgin divorcée. She really got the worst of both worlds.

Now, here’s a question: will Kazuma and Darkness end up together? Of the three main girls, Darkness seems like the most obvious partner for Kazuma due to their ages and chemistry. However, Kazuma has actually friend-zoned Darkness a few times now. The most recent time came just in this episode, when Darkness’s father asked Kazuma to take her.

Speaking of Darkness’s father, I kind of saw what happened with him coming. Having him die (for good) here didn’t feel like something KonoSuba would do. It’s not funny. So, I thought he’d die, and then Aqua would immediately revive him. But her cleansing him of his curse works too.

This is also when I realized that Aqua hadn’t seen Darkness’s father throughout this whole arc. I don’t remember if she met him in a previous season. But she hadn’t seen him since he fell ill, which I didn’t realize. If Aqua had seen him earlier, this all could have been avoided.

She could have cleansed his curse, and he would have obviously stopped Darkness from going through with the wedding. In fact, the Dustiness family may not have gone into debt if he wasn’t cursed. This was all part of Aldarp’s plan.

Season 4 Is Coming for Sure

I’m pretty convinced that we’re going to get a fourth season of KonoSuba. Obviously, there’s more content from the light novel to cover. I don’t know how close the anime is to finishing that content. But I know there’s still more to cover.

However, the reason I think we’ll get a Season 4 is how this season ended. This wasn’t a good stopping point for a few reasons.

First, we found out that Aldarp had one of the divine treasures Eris is searching for. Specifically, he had the one that lets its user summon a random monster and forge a pact with them. Aldarp used the item to summon Maxwell, an apparent Duke of Hell. And it’s through Maxwell that Aldarp was able to place a curse on Darkness’s father.

So, we have that whole divine treasure storyline that still needs a conclusion.

Second, there’s the matter of what happened to Aldarp. The implication is that Maxwell killed him and that’s why he’s missing. But, to me, that seems a bit too dark for the series — especially because of the way in which he allegedly died. Vanir says that Maxwell is going to torture him to death.

It just doesn’t feel right for that to be the end of Aldarp. So, I think we’re going to see him return later on in the series. Perhaps, we’ll see him return as Maxwell’s human pet. Or, he might even return as a demon himself.

Finally, the last piece of evidence pointing toward a fourth season is the one I think is the least important. It’s the simple fact that Kazuma hasn’t defeated all of the demon king’s generals and the demon king. I don’t think that really matters. The anime could end without reaching that point.

Final Thoughts

What do you think of KonoSuba 3 Episode 11? Do you agree with me that this was the best episode of the season? What was your favorite part of the episode? Do you think Kazuma and Darkness could end up together? And are you expecting to ever see Aldarp again?
