Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Part 2 Episode 24 Review

What Is There to Regret?

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Part 2 Episode 24 was a good ending to the season. It was depressing yet hopeful, and it gave us things to look forward to and reflect on. That last part is what I want to discuss first.

Before Rudeus decided to save Zenith, the Man-God warned him that he would regret his decision if he went on this journey. But as Rudeus realized when he returned, he didn’t regret anything. Nothing happened to his friends and family while he was away.

And sure, Paul died. But that’s not something that makes Rudeus feel regret. He’s sad that Paul died. However, he knows that more people would have died had he not been there. Roxy would have died. And the party likely would have been wiped without both Rudeus and Roxy there.

Does this mean that the Man-God doesn’t know everything that’s going to happen? Does it mean the Man-God intentionally tried to steer Rudeus in the wrong direction? And if the latter is the case, for what purpose?

From what I remember, the Man-God hasn’t given Rudeus bad information before. For example, the Man-God told Rudeus that his erectile dysfunction would be cured if he attended the Ranoa University of Magic. That turned out to be true because Rudeus reunited with Sylphie.

But did the Man-God get lucky that time and unlucky this time? Or did the Man-God intentionally help Rudeus out earlier so that Rudeus would trust him when he eventually lied? Time to break out the tinfoil hats.

Remember how Orsted killed Rudeus over his knowledge of the Man-God? It seemed like Orsted was the bad guy. But we also know he took care of Nanahoshi. So what if the Man-God is the bad one?

The Second Wife

As I’ve been saying would happen, Sylphie took Rudeus’s request that she allow Roxy to be his second wife pretty well. From the start, Sylphie acknowledged that Rudeus would eventually bring another woman into their relationship. She just didn’t know it would happen so soon.

And I have to assume that Sylphie was a bit hurt by the fact that Rudeus did this while she was pregnant. But the person who was hurt the most was Norn. Norn’s anger both makes sense and doesn’t make sense.

Do you remember one of the initial reasons Norn gave for hating Rudeus? It was because every time she saw him (two times), he was with a different woman. She viewed him as a womanizer. So, obviously, the fact that Rudeus has brought home another girl and wants to marry her would set Norn off.

Why doesn’t Norn’s anger make sense, though? There are two reasons. The first is that Paul also had two wives, and Norn didn’t have an issue with that. So, she’s being a bit of a hypocrite. But what’s more interesting is that Norn seems to follow the goddess Milis.

She says that this isn’t something Milis would allow. But Rudeus and Sylphie don’t follow Milis. And I have to assume that since Rudeus doesn’t (and since Paul had two wives), Paul didn’t either. So why is Norn a follower of Milis? Where did she get that from?

I’m interested to see how Norn will react to Eris showing up. We saw Eris during the ending credits, so I think she’ll return in Season 3. Will Norn accept her because she recognizes her? Will she throw another tantrum? Or will she give up on trying to change her brother’s polygamist ways?

Lucie Greyrat Is Born

At the end of Episode 24, Sylphie gives birth to her first child with Rudeus. It’s a girl, and they decide to name her Lucie (or Lucy, I don’t know which is the official spelling yet). They got this name by combining the first syllables of their names.

As you may know, L and R are basically interchangeable in Japanese. So the “Lu” comes from the “Ru” in Rudeus. Then the “cie” or “cy” comes from the “Sy” in Sylphie. And that’s how they came up with her name. Though, if we’re writing it in Japanese, it would be ルーシー (Rūshī).

Okay, so what do we know about Lucie already? Despite just being born, quite a lot. For starters, she has Rudeus’s hair color, which is something Sylphie’s relieved about. Remember, Sylphie had green hair as a child, and she was bullied for it. So she didn’t want her daughter to go through that, too.

Also, we saw that Lucie has the pointed ears of an elf. However, they aren’t as long and pointy as Sylphie’s. So, will they grow and look more like Sylphie’s as she ages? Or, will they stay the shape they are now because she’s only slightly elf?

Something I’m pretty sure I remember is that Sylphie herself is only a half- or quarter-elf. I don’t remember which it is. But that means, at the most, Lucie is 25% elf, and at the least, she’s only 12.5% elf.

This also has me thinking about what an eventual child of Rudeus and Roxy could be like. They might get the blue hair of the Migurdia tribe. But would they get the Migurdia tribe’s telepathic ability since Roxy doesn’t have it? Is her lack of telepathy an inheritable trait?

Final Thoughts

What do you think of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 24? Do you think the Man-God was wrong or intentionally misleading when he told Rudeus he’d regret his journey? Why do you think Norn follows Milis if her parents and immediate family members don’t? And what are your thoughts on the name Lucie for Rudeus’s firstborn?
