Mushoku Tensei Part 2 Episode 6

Mushoku Tensei Part 2 Episode 6

Geese of the Demon Continent

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 Episode 6 was my least favorite episode of the series (both parts included) so far, I think. It had good character development for both Rudy and Paul. But I still think it was a slow and generally uneventful episode overall.

The big twist of the episode came early on, with the revelation that our old pal Geese is actually an ally of Paul. It’s unclear if Geese is a member of Paul’s current party, or if he’s a former party member who just happens to be helping out in his own way right now.

I get the feeling that Geese was a member of Paul’s old party, which also included Zenith, Ghislaine, Elinalise, and Talhand. If you don’t remember who Elinalise and Talhand are, they’re the elf and dwarf respectively who are traveling with Roxy currently.

So, now that we know Geese is an ally of Paul, it becomes clear that he’s much stronger than he led on when we were first introduced to him in the Great Forest. He’s even originally from the Demon Continent, which is wild. I guess that means he’s a demon; I wonder which clan he’s from.

And speaking of the Demon Continent, based on what Geese said about it, it’s the most dangerous content we know of. I guess the continents become more dangerous the farther “out” you get from the “center” of the world.

The Central Continent, where Rudy, Eris, and Paul are from, is the safest. We can assume the Millis Continent is pretty safe as well, but it does seem to be rampant with kidnappers. And then there’s the Demon Continent, where even the environment wants to kill you.

Paul and Rudy

So, the main event of the episode, Rudy and Paul’s make-up session (not makeout session), was also my least favorite part of the episode. I don’t really care all that much about their inter-family drama. But, it could set up some good content in the future.

For example, now that Paul’s passion for finding the rest of his family has been reignited, we might get some cool episodes following his adventures. It could be neat to see how someone like Paul handles life or death situations differently than Rudy.

We all know Paul’s not a good guy, even if he was slightly redeemed this week. But I do think Paul is far more likely to immediately leap into action than Rudy is. Rudy tends to play things safe (for himself) at the expense of others. I don’t see Paul doing that.

The main drawback of following Paul’s adventures is that we would be missing out on Eris content. However, I think the combination of Norn, Vierra, and Shierra content might make up for it — especially Vierra (you know which one she is).

I’m interested to see how Rudy’s and Pual’s parties develop over time. I’m assuming that they’ll cross paths again eventually. But, maybe Paul’s party will be nearly wiped out by something before that happens. I could see that being the case.

Maybe Norn survives whatever killed the rest of them, and that’s how she eventually makes her way to Rudy’s party (I’m assuming she’ll join him one day). By that point, Ruijerd may be gone, though. I see Rudy’s final party consisting of himself, Eris, Norn, Aisha, Sylphiette, and Roxy.

Though, considering that Mushoku Tensei hasn’t been a harem series so far, maybe Ruijerd or another male character will be in the final party. I’m honestly surprised by the number of good, male characters.

Fittoa is Gone

Let’s move back to the discussion of this world’s geography for a moment. We already went over the three continents that we know of. But what about the Central Continent in particular?

Well, we don’t know all that much about it, but we know Rudy is originally from Asura which is within the Fittoa region. We also know the Fittoa region extends to where Eris’s family resided, but it’s unclear if that also counts as Asura or if there’s a different name for that town.

So, why am I bringing this all up? Because Paul tells Rudy (and us) that the entire Fittoa region is gone. From what we know, that’s a significant area that was wiped out in the mana disaster event. It’s not like Rudy was just down the road when he was sent off to tutor Eris.

I guess, technically speaking, we don’t know of anyone actually dying in the mana disaster despite the region being destroyed. They were scattered around the world and may have died afterward depending on where they ended up. But the mana disaster itself wasn’t deadly from what we know.

So, that brings up the question of why the disaster happened within the Fittoa region. Was it specifically targeted? Does it have something to do with Rudy being reincarnated into this world? And if Fittoa was targeted, to what end? Scattering the citizens seems odd if it was intentional.

I don’t think these questions are going to be answered simply by Rudy and Eris returning to their homeland. They’ll probably find out that Eris’s grandfather was executed. But then it’ll be time for them to go on their next adventure. There’s not really any time to investigate the mana disaster itself.

Conclusion

What do you think of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 Episode 6? How do you think this episode compares to the others from the series? Do you think Dead End will stop at another continent on their way to Fittoa? And what do you think Rudy’s party will look like in the end? Let me know in the comments.
