My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 114

My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 114

Hawks and Twice

At first, I was hoping that My Hero Academia Season 6 Episode 114 would be a recap episode. That way, I wouldn’t have had to review it today. But, after watching the episode, I’m glad we got some real content. It was a good episode — mostly because it focused on the pro heroes.

The episode starts off with Hawks and Twice at the Paranormal Liberation Front’s HQ. Because Hawks is one of the top pro heroes, the villains don’t exactly trust him. And so, it’s Twice’s job to keep an eye on Hawks.

Of course, the villains are right to be suspicious of him. After all, Hawks is actually working as a double agent for the Hero Association.

Anyway, while he’s talking to Twice, we get to hear what Hawks is really thinking about the whole situation. And he has some very interesting thoughts I want to discuss.

First of all, Hawks confirms that Twice is one of the most dangerous villains of the organization. Now that he’s overcome his mental disorder, there’s nothing holding Twice back. If he wanted to, he could make an infinite army of himself. Twice alone could conquer the country.

Second, there’s how Hawks is talking about Twice in his mind. When we hear his thoughts, they’re not in the present tense. He thinks things like “I knew that you were good-natured.” The implication here is that we’re getting Hawks’ thoughts from the future. And it seems that Twice is no longer around in that future.

If Hawks thought “I know that you were good-natured,” it would mean Twice used to be good-natured but is bad now. The fact that he thinks “I knew…” tells me that something happened to Twice. My prediction is that Hawks will end up killing him.

The Heroes’ Two-Pronged Attack

The Paranormal Liberation Front’s plan is to launch a large-scale attack across Japan. I don’t remember how many members the organization has, so let’s say it’s 100,000. They plan to have all 100,000 members launch attacks across the country at the same exact time.

By doing this, there will be too much chaos for the pro heroes to stop. I don’t know how many pro heroes there are, either. But, I’m pretty confident that there aren’t nearly as many of them as there are members of the PLF.

We also need to keep in mind that every member of the PLF has a quirk. And while a strong hero such as Endeavor could take down large numbers of grunts, they’re not all grunts. There are some very powerful members of the PLF, such as the former League of Villains members.

In an attempt to stop these mass attacks before they begin, the Hero Association makes the first move. They decide to launch a two-pronged attack on the PLF’s headquarters and a hospital. The hospital doubles as the lab of Dr. Garaki, an ally of All-for-One. Recently, he’s been helping Shigaraki and the villains.

Since this is such an important operation, it involves a lot of pro heroes. There are easily hundreds of them taking part across both attacks. And to back up the pro heroes, the students with provisional hero licenses are there too.

Most of the hero class students are supporting the pros from the backline. They’re doing things like helping evacuate civilians from the surrounding areas. That’s an important duty because it will allow the pro heroes to go all out against the PLF. But, 4 students are stationed at the front: Kaminari, Tokoyami, Honenuki, and Komori.

Raid on the Hospital

The raid on Dr. Garaki’s hospital and lab was the highlight of the episode. Obviously, this was the part of the episode with all the action. But, that’s not the only reason it was good. I liked seeing how the pro heroes went about doing their job.

According to the heroes’ intelligence, Dr. Garaki is quirkless. I know I said it would be odd for someone who’s quirkless to be a member of the PLF. But, remember, Dr. Garaki is first and foremost a follower of All-for-One.

Now, what I thought was cool about this part is that the heroes didn’t solely rely on their intelligence. Yes, it said Dr. Garaki is quirkless. But, they’re not taking any chances. Eraser Head immediately uses his quirk-canceling quirk on the doctor. And, what do you know? It appears he had a quirk after all.

As for the action, that primarily came from Mirko, everyone’s favorite bunny girl. So far, I don’t have a strong opinion on Mirko. I know a lot of people love her, though. And from this episode and the preview for next week, it seems like she’s going to be in the spotlight.

By the end of this arc, I may be a Mirko fanboy as well. But, for now, I’m a Rock Lock fan. And you can bet I was pumped when he showed up for a few seconds in this episode. I’ve said it before, but Rock Lock has a very cool quirk that I want to see more of.

Anyway, Mirko goes on ahead of the other heroes in the hospital to find the secret lab. And find it she does. She breaks through the door right as the real Dr. Garaki is about to make his escape.

Conclusion

What do you think of the first episode of My Hero Academia Season 6? Do you think Twice will survive to the end of the season? Will the heroes’ two-pronged attack on the PLF be successful? And are you already a Mirko fanboy (or girl)? Let me know in the comments.
