Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 10 Review

Daily Life at Ranoa University of Magic

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 10 wasn’t a great episode. Not too much actually happened in it. But, we did get some new information by following Rudeus’s daily life at the university.

Let’s start with something that might not be that new: Moving curses into objects. I’m pretty sure we already knew about this being what caused the Superds to go berserk. Laplace (a former Demon King, I think), moved curses from his own body into spears. The Superd then wielded those spears in battle and the curses affected them.

What’s important here, though, is how it relates to Elinalise’s current condition. At this point, I guess we’re supposed to believe that she really does have a curse. And if that’s the case, then there should be a way to move that curse into an object.

From the story about the Superds, we also know that curses within objects can transfer to people. So, here’s my theory. Cliff finds a way to transfer Elinalise’s curse into an object. Then, Rudeus somehow comes in contact with that object and contracts the curse. After that, Rudeus’s harem life begins with his various love interests.

Something we didn’t learn in this episode is exactly what role Badigadi has at the university. He wears a uniform like the other students, so that would imply he’s a student. But, even from his introduction, I didn’t feel like he was one. It makes more sense for him to be a teacher.

And, in this episode, he comments on how hard it must be to be a student if they can’t drink during the day. So, that seems to imply that he’s not a student. What is he, then? At this point, I think he’s just hanging out there.

Nanahoshi’s Summoning Circles

One of the other things we learned is how Shizuka Nanahoshi plans to return to her old world. It’s not exactly as simple as using some sort of reverse summoning spell. As far as we know, summoning spells require the use of summoning circles.

The problem with summoning circles is that the technology has been lost. Shizuka can’t just look up the kind of summoning circle she needs. So, she’s had to create her own summoning circles based on her research. And so far, they haven’t produced much in terms of results.

But, it’s not as if Shizuka isn’t getting anywhere. She doesn’t have mana. And that leads me to assume she couldn’t test her summoning circles until Rudeus arrived. So, now that she has Rudeus, she can get some real-world data to back up the research she’s been doing.

The summoning circle pictured above managed to summon a bird’s feather. That seems like a success, to me. But, Shizuka calls it a failure as it was meant to summon someone from her old world. Still, we don’t know where that feather came from. It’s possible it came from her old world, which would be a huge step forward.

However, Rudeus points out a potential issue with Shizuka’s plan. The first thing she wants to do is summon a person from her old world. What will happen if she succeeds? Rudeus rightly says that it could lead to another mass teleportation event.

Shouldn’t Shizuka start off by summoning a known object from her current world? Then, she could move on to an object from her old world before making the jump to humans. And, what everyone seems to ignore is, what happens to that human? Now they’re stuck there, too.

Fitz-senpai Is a Woman

In Episode 10, Rudeus finally finds out something that we’ve known from the very start of the season: Fitz is a woman. However, he still hasn’t figured out that Fitz is none other than his childhood friend Sylphie. I wonder when he’ll find that out, too.

My prediction is that Rudeus is going to uncover Fitz’s true identity in Episode 12. That would be a pretty good cliffhanger to end on. And, it wouldn’t be as if we’d have to wait until Season 3 to learn what that means for him. Season 2 Part 2 is coming in the spring.

Anyway, finding out that Fitz is a woman seems to have fixed Rudeus’s ED. He’s not entirely better yet. But, continued exposure to Fitz should do the trick. Though, I’m not exactly sure how physical contact with Fitz was able to fix Rudeus.

Rudeus doesn’t yet know that Fitz is Sylphie. As far as he’s concerned, all that happened was that he touched a girl. And that’s something he’s done multiple times since his ED showed up. So, I’m going to assume that it being Sylphie specifically isn’t what made the difference here.

From my understanding, the difference is that Rudeus actually likes Fitz/Sylphie. He doesn’t care about Linia, Elise, or even Sara, it would seem. But, Sylphie is someone he does care about. And, even though he doesn’t know that Fitz is Sylphie, it’s natural that he would feel the same way about Fitz.

As Fitz, Sylphie still acts like herself around Rudeus. So, whatever attracted Rudeus to Sylphie would likewise attract him to Fitz. If Eris was in disguise and met Rudeus, he’d be attracted to her, too. Or, would he? Sara was very similar to Eris, and yet Rudeus couldn’t get it up.

Final Thoughts

What do you think of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 10? Were you surprised when nobody objected to Julie drinking alcohol? Do you expect Shizuka to successfully summon another person from her old world? And do you think Elinalise’s curse will be transferred to Rudeus? Let me know in the comments.

I was sure Rudeus was going to speak up when Julie wanted to drink. But, I guess he doesn’t see that as a problem since she’s a dwarf. Also, I kind of hope Shizuka doesn’t succeed in summoning someone else. I’d prefer if this series didn’t go down the “connected worlds” route.
