Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 30 Review

Human Earthworm 4

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 30 is finally here. It’s been a full four months since Episode 29. But, the good news is that Episode 30 doesn’t pick up where the last episode left off. This is the start of a brand new arc.

We’re back in the present. And that means we’re back to following Itadori, Nobara, and Fushiguro. I didn’t think I would actually miss these characters. But, after seeing them all together again, I realized that they have a pretty good dynamic. Their chemistry is something the flashback arc was missing.

Sure, sure, Gojou and Getou were best friends. But, their relationship wasn’t quite the same as what we see with these three. Gojou’s a fun guy. I won’t deny that. However, one fun guy doesn’t make for a great group dynamic. I liked seeing how Itadori, Nobara, and Fushiguro all hung out together.

Anyway, even though I’m glad the main characters are back, they weren’t the best part of the episode. The best part was the trailer for Human Earthworm 4. I would definitely watch this movie as a one-off special episode.

Obviously, the title and initial concept of the movie are based on The Human Centipede. But, Human Earthworm 4 goes in a very different direction. In this movie, the scientist turns the victim into a human-centipede hybrid. And, I have to say, that’s way more appealing than what happens in The Human Centipede.

But, there’s also a twist. You’d think that Human Earthworm 4 is a horror movie. However, it turns out to be a love story about how looks aren’t what matters most. It’s what’s on the inside that counts. And that ties directly into the next part of the episode when Yuuki Ozawa appears.

So It’s Like That

Yuuko Ozawa is one of Itadori’s former classmates. They were actually classmates only six months ago when they were in middle school. And, on the last day of school, Yuuko worked up the courage to ask Itadori to take a picture with her.

Even if she hadn’t explicitly said it, from this, it’s clear that she has a crush on Itadori. And after she moved to Tokyo, she didn’t think she would ever see him again. But, luckily for Yuuko, Itadori also happened to move to Tokyo.

Back in middle school, Yuuko wasn’t a very desirable girl among the boys in her class. She was short and fat. And yet, Itadori didn’t think poorly of her because of her appearance. He was able to see Yuuko for who she was, not what she looked like. Do you see the Human Earthworm 4 connection?

Now, however, Yuuko isn’t short and fat. She’s tall and thin, which in turn has improved her self confidence. So, will Itadori be interested in her if she confesses? That’s what she wants Nobara to help her figure out. And then, of course, Nobara ropes Fushiguro into their romance plot, as well.

As we all know, Itadori likes tall girls with big butts. Fushiguro even reminds us of this. So, does that mean Yuuko is Itadori’s type? She’s certainly tall. But, I can’t say for sure whether or not she meets the big butt criteria. I’m going to need more data.

What I can say for sure is that this isn’t the last we’ll see of Yuuko. I’m expecting her to appear again this season. But that doesn’t mean things will work out for her. I have a feeling that a curse is responsible for her change in appearance.

The Mechanical Mole

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 30 introduces the idea that one of the students is a mole. And then, only minutes later, we find out who the mole is. I really appreciated that. I don’t need this series to be like My Hero Academia, which seems to have forgotten that one of the students is a mole.

So, who’s the mole? It’s Kokuchi Muta, better known as Mechamaru. But, just because he’s a mole doesn’t mean he’s a traitor.

Yes, he gave sensitive information to Getou and Mahito, which is bad. But, he did so because Mahito has the ability to restore his body. The whole reason we know Kokichi as Mechamaru is because he has to use puppets as proxies. His body is so broken that he can’t go outside.

However, that reason for giving up secrets to villains alone isn’t enough to exonerate him.

If Kokichi was giving up the jujutsu sorcerer’s secrets for his own gain, that would make him a traitor. But, it also looks like Kokichi was gathering information from the villains, as well. He found out what their next plan of attack is. And, he’s determined to get that information to Gojou.

Now, part of the reason he wants to tell Gojou is because Gojou can save him. When we last see him, he’s fighting against Mahito with Getou present, as well. That’s not going to be an easy situation for him to get out of on his own.

But, the other part of it is that he knows Gojou is someone who can stop their plan. Gojou defeated Getou in the past and is still considered the strongest sorcerer. If anyone can stop the planned attack on Shibuya, it’s Gojou. So, that kind of absolves Kokichi’s betrayal.

Final Thoughts

What do you think of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 30? Are you glad to see the gang back together? Would you watch Human Earthworm 4? Do you think Yuuko is cursed? And, are you expecting Kokichi to survive his current predicament? Let me know in the comments.

As I said, I’m glad the gang’s back together, I would watch Human Earthworm 4, and I believe Yuuko is cursed. However, I’m not sure what I’m expecting regarding Kokichi’s fate.

It would be nice to see Kokichi survive now that he has a functional body. He could be a more involved character going forward. But, at the same time, him dying would make the attack on Shibuya more of a surprise. And surprises lead to excitement.
