Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 47 Review

It’s Time to Punch Getou in the Brain

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 47 was a disappointing way to end the season. That was not a good episode. On top of that, I didn’t really understand some of what was going on at the start.

I don’t know if I didn’t understand it because it was explained poorly. Or, if it was because I’m still sick and my brain isn’t working properly. In fact, I don’t even know what it is that I didn’t understand. Getou and Yuki were talking to each other and their words were going right over my head.

What I did understand, though, is that it’s time to punch Getou in the brain. Yuki told Itadori and the others that they all need to work together to take Getou down. And then, that didn’t happen. Getou used some sorcery, summoned a bunch of curses, and disappeared.

This got me thinking, though. What is Yuki’s cursed technique? Do we know and I’m forgetting? I’m pretty sure that’s not the case. I’m pretty confident that we don’t know anything about how she fights. All we know is that she’s special-grade and has some sort of dragon thing following her around.

Well, actually, we know one more thing. We know that she’s the one who trained Toudou. So, does this mean she’s a powerful physical fighter like he is? Does she fight with her fists and only use her cursed technique to complement her fighting style?

Or, does her dragon-thing imply something else? Does it imply she has a similar cursed technique to Fushiguro’s? I don’t see her having the same curse manipulation technique as Getou. But, I have to assume the dragon has something to do with her technique. Is it her familiar? Is it even a curse?

Return of the Heian Period

Until now, it was a bit unclear what Getou’s goal was. Well, sort of. Technically, we’ve known what Getou’s goal has been for a long time. Getou wanted to eradicate curses from the world. And his way of achieving that was by eradicating non-sorcerers.

If you remember from the start of the season, we learned that non-sorcerers are the main source of curses. So, if Getou eliminates all non-sorcerers, then that solves the curse issue. But, if there are no curses, is there cursed energy? And if there’s no cursed energy, are there sorcerers? I don’t know.

What I do know is that the guy I’ve been calling Getou (and will continue to call Getou) isn’t Getou. This is a brain that’s using Getou’s corpse as a body. And this Getou wants something very different than the original Getou.

Brain Getou wants pure chaos. He doesn’t care if humans or curses, sorcerers or non-sorcerers are the ones on top. He doesn’t exactly want anyone on top. But, he also doesn’t want peace. He wants a world in which everyone is fighting for their lives no matter who they are.

At least, that’s what I understood from his little speech at the start. Again, I feel like a lot of what he said went over my head. But, if I have that right, this goes against everything the original Getou was fighting for. The original Getou wanted peace, not chaos.

Interestingly, the world Brain Getou wants to bring back is the Heian. The Heian period of Japan was a peaceful period. But, according to Brain Getou, this Heian world he wants to revive is the “golden age of jujutsu.” And, I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound like a very peaceful time to me.

Itadori’s Execution Is Back On

In case you forgot, there was only one reason why Itadori’s execution was stayed: Satoru Gojou. Gojou wanted to protect and train Itadori. And because he’s Gojou, the rest of the jujutsu world couldn’t really say no. But, now that Gojou’s sealed, Itadori’s execution is back on.

However, what’s more interesting is how the jujutsu world reacted to the Shibuya Incident as a whole. The reinstatement of Itadori’s execution is only part of it. And, it’s the part that arguably makes the most sense. A lot of sorcerers fear Sukuna’s power within Itadori and think his death would be for the greater good.

But, what about the other notices the Jujutsu Headquarters put out?

First, they reinstated the Getou’s death sentence. This doesn’t quite make sense because it fails to acknowledge that this isn’t Getou. Whoever’s brain is inside Getou’s body is far more dangerous.

Second, they declared that Gojou was an accomplice in the Shibuya Incident. Why would they do this? Well, we know that there are many sorcerer clans that hated the Gojou clan. They were jealous of the Gojou clan’s power. So, this is a way for these clans to maintain their newfound power by keeping Gojou sealed.

Third, the jujutsu high principal was sentenced to death for being another accomplice. Why? He sided with Gojou on the Itadori issue. So, he has to go.

And lastly, Yuuta Okkotsu is the one who’s going to carry out Itadori’s execution.

This one is another odd one because Yuuta used to be in the same situation as Itadori. There was a time when they wanted to execute him — and they still seem to. But, as far as I know, he’s the last remaining special-grade sorcerer the Jujutsu Headquarters has to rely on.

Final Thoughts

What do you think of the final episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2? Do you have a prediction about Yuki Tsukumo’s cursed technique? Why do you think Getou wants to cause absolute chaos? And, who do you think would win between Itadori and Yuuta? Let me know in the comments.
