Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 9 Review

The White Mask

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 9 was a giant lore dump. And I don’t mean that in a bad way. One of my favorite things about this series is the lore. So, any time we get a bunch of lore, I’m happy.

One of the first things we learn is who the final special student at Ranoa University of Magic is. Previously, Zanoba referred to her as “Miss Silent.” And, when he did so, I assumed that wasn’t actually her name. But, it turns out that it is. Her name is Silent Sevenstar.

Rudeus visits her in her laboratory because she’s an expert in teleportation magic. But, that little piece of information doesn’t really make sense. As we learned earlier in the season, teleportation magic is forbidden. And, why was the existence of a teleportation expert not mentioned until now? Isn’t that important?

Silent Sevenstar

Both Rudeus and Fitz have been trying to uncover the mystery of the mass teleportation. And while Rudeus didn’t know that’s what Silent specialized in, Fitz did. So, why didn’t Fitz ever visit Silent before? Why didn’t Fitz ever mention Silent’s area of research to Rudeus before? It doesn’t make sense.

Anyway, when Rudeus comes face-to-mask with Silent, he realizes that he’s met her before. She was accompanying Orsted back when he killed Rudeus. Naturally, seeing Silent again causes Rudeus to have a panic attack. But, according to Silent, the reason Rudeus is alive today is because she asked Orsted to revive him.

Silent may have been traveling with Orsted, but that doesn’t make Rudeus her enemy. Whatever beef Orsted has with the Man-God doesn’t matter to her. Orsted may decide to kill Rudeus again in the future. But, if he does, it won’t be because of Silent. She doesn’t work for him.

Silent Sevenstar / Shizuka Nanahoshi

As it turns out, Silent Sevenstar isn’t her real name. And, this isn’t actually the second time Rudeus has run into her — it’s the third. The first time he saw her was before he was reincarnated, back in his old world. She was there when he died.

So, who is Silent Sevenstar actually? Her real name is Shizuka Nanahoshi, which is just Silent Sevenstar in Japanese. It’s a bit unclear why she chose to use her name translated into English as her alias in this world, but whatever. The point is, she’s Japanese, just like Rudeus.

However, there are some key differences between Shizuka and Rudeus. For starters, Shizuka wasn’t reincarnated into this world; she was teleported. That’s significant because it means that, unlike Rudeus, she didn’t grow up in this world. She appeared in it exactly as she was in their old world.

Shizuka Nanahoshi from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 9
Shizuka Nanahoshi

Now, if Shizuka wasn’t reborn in this world, why doesn’t she appear older? She should be in her 30s by now. Well, as she explains, she doesn’t seem to age in this world. She looks the same as she did the day she arrived there. Though, she doesn’t believe this means she’s immortal.

On top of that, Shizuka says that she only appeared in this world 5 years ago. Meanwhile, Rudeus has been living in this world for something like 16 or 17 years by now. So, what’s the deal with that?

My assumption was that Shizuka was caught up in Rudeus’s reincarnation. But if that’s the case, why did Shizuka appear in the world 12 years after Rudeus did? Surely, there’s a reason for this delay and it wasn’t random. But, what could that reason be?

Oh, and since Shizuka wasn’t reincarnated, she also has no mana. She’s a normal human.

The One Who Caused the Mass Teleportation

Despite all the information we got from Episode 9, we still don’t know the cause of the mass teleportation. Though, we do have a few more clues thanks to what we learned from Shizuka. She seems to believe she’s the cause.

Now, if Shizuka believes she’s the cause, doesn’t that mean we know the cause? After all, she appeared in Asura shortly before the mass teleportation event happened. So, it makes sense to assume that her appearance is what caused it. And, I don’t doubt that’s true.

But, saying that Shizuka was the cause doesn’t really answer the question. All this would mean is that the mass teleportation was a side effect of Shizuka’s summoning. So, who summoned Shizuka and why? The best answer we have for who is Orsted. But, we don’t have any information about the why.

Silent creating a magic force field from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 9
Silent creating a magic force field

Are we supposed to believe that Orsted just happened to be nearby when Shizuka appeared in Asura? And that he decided to take in a girl with no mana and travel the world with her? It seems more likely that he’s the one who summoned her, doesn’t it?

Well, I’m not so sure about that. There’s someone else we know of who was in Asura at the time who could have summoned Shizuka: Rudeus. We know Rudeus has far more mana than most people. So, even if he didn’t intend to summon Shizuka, he still may have been the one to do it.

Of course, there’s also something the Man-God said that we need to keep in mind. He told Rudeus that Orsted was connected to the mass teleportation somehow. But, since we know Orsted and the Man-God are enemies, I’m not sure how much we can trust that information.

Final Thoughts

What do you think of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 9? Did you remember that we met Shizuka back in Season 1 before she mentioned it? Why do you think there was a delay in her summoning? And, who do you think is responsible for summoning Shizuka?

I’ll admit that I completely forgot we had met Shizuka before. And, as for why there was a delay in her summoning, I’m not entirely sure. Was she lost in the void between worlds for 12 years? Or, did she cross both space and time to arrive in the same world as Rudeus 12 years later?

Also, I’m going to make the prediction that neither Rudeus nor Orsted summoned Shizuka. Orsted seemed to be trying to return her to her old world. But, his involvement could be that he interrupted someone else performing a summoning. And, as a result, Shizuka appeared instead of the intended summoning target.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 8 Review

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 8 Review

Elinalise’s New Man

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 8 revealed Cliff Grimoire’s crush. Is it Eris? And is that why Cliff seems to hate Rudeus? That would make sense, based on what we saw in the Special Episode. But, it’s not Eris whom Cliff has a crush on.

It’s Elinalise.

Cliff also has a misunderstanding about Elinalise’s nature. He heard other students spreading rumors that Elinalise will spend a night with any boy. And when he tried to defend her honor, he got beat up. But, as we know, those aren’t rumors; they’re the truth.

So, does Cliff react when he finds out that Elinalise does actually sleep around? Well, I can’t say he reacted as I expected. I thought that once he found out, he’d feel betrayed by Rudeus, for some reason. However, the opposite is what happened. He seems fine with Elinalise’s curse.

Elinalise Dragonroad from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 8
Elinalise Dragonroad

Previously, Elinalise said that she needs to sleep with a man every day or almost every day. If she doesn’t, she’ll die. In Episode 8, however, she also adds the detail that she can’t stick to one partner. I don’t think this is part of the curse, though. I believe she was trying to say that no man has the libido to keep up with her.

With that in mind, she was going to turn Cliff down. But, she claims that his proposal was so manly that she decided to take him up on his offer. They’re a couple now, and Elinalise is going to try her best to stay faithful to Cliff.

For his part, Cliff has also vowed to figure out how to break Elinalise’s curse. Though I have to say, I’m still not convinced that she has a real curse. We still haven’t seen any tangible proof that she’s cursed.

Challenging the Boss

Last week, Rudy was wondering why Pursena suddenly started calling him “Boss.” The answer seems pretty clear now. She did this so she could tell potential suitors that Rudeus is her boss. And that means those suitors are going to challenge Rudeus for marriage duels.

If they beat him, they get to marry Pursena (and Linia). But, of course, Pursena knows that none of the beastkin on campus are strong enough to win. So, they don’t have to worry about Rudeus losing. Oh, and if Rudeus wasn’t their “Boss,” then the girls would have to fight the suitors themselves.

Now, you may be wondering if Pursena would really plan this out. Is she smart enough to do that? I’m going to say yes. From what we’ve seen of Pursena and Linia, Pursena is the brains of the pair. And, her specialty is using and manipulating others.

A girl watching Rudeus from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 8
A girl watching Rudeus

We see this every time Pursena offers Linia’s body to Rudeus as a reward. She knows what Rudeus wants, but she’s not going to offer up herself. So, she uses Linia. And that’s exactly what’s going on here. But, this time around, Rudeus is the one she’s offering up to others.

The first beastkin to challenge Rudeus is accompanied by a pretty cute girl who appears to be human. She’s the girl wearing blue and with blue hair pictured above. Later, when there’s a line of challengers waiting for Rudeus, Fitz mentions that one of them is a girl. I’m assuming this is the same girl.

But, why would this girl want to challenge Rudeus? Does she want to marry either Linia or Pursena? Or, does she believe that she can marry Rudeus if she defeats him? I’m not sure. But, she’s cute, so I hope she joins his harem.

Demon King Badigadi

It’s quite a coincidence that Demon King Badigadi would show up in Episode 8. Just last week, I mentioned his fiancée, Kishirika Kishirisu, whom we haven’t seen in a while. And, now that we’ve met Badigadi, I can understand why the two of them are engaged.

Both Kishirisu and Badigadi do whatever they want. If something seems fun or entertaining, they’ll do it. And that’s even the case if it means putting themselves in degrading positions. Wasn’t Kishirisu living (starving) on the streets when Rudeus met her? And now, a Demon King is going to be teaching at Ranoa University.

Well, at least, my understanding from how Episode 8 ended is that Badigadi is going to be a teacher. He could be attending the university as a student, based on his outfit. But, my assumption is that he’s going to be a teacher.

Demon King Badigadi from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 8
Demon King Badigadi

Anyway, something important about Badigadi is that he’s the Demon King. I assume this means he rules over the entire Demon Continent. And, that also probably means he’s one of the strongest demons, alongside Kishirisu. But, notably, he isn’t called the Demon God.

As we already know, Orsted is the Dragon God. And then, there’s the Man-God who visits Rudeus in his dreams. While Badigadi says he doesn’t know anything about the Man-God, I’m pretty sure he does. He asks Rudeus where he heard that name from, which implies he has some knowledge of it.

And, while he also didn’t say anything about Orsted, he clearly knows about him, too.

But, there was something I thought of during this conversation between these two. Is Rudeus the reincarnation of the Man-God? He has a mana pool larger than most people and is visited by the Man-God in his dreams. So, is that his destiny?

Final Thoughts

Based on what we see of Elinalise in the OP for this arc, I actually think she’s going to stay with Cliff. I’m also predicting that the girl who wants to challenge Rudeus believes he’s a beastkin. And, as I already mentioned, my assumption is that Badigadi is going to be a teacher, not a student, at the University.

But, what do you think of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 8? Do you think Elinalise and Cliff are going to be together long-term? Why do you think a girl wants to challenge Rudeus to a duel? And, what are you expecting from Badigadi going forward? Let me know in the comments.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 7 Review

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 7 Review

Disciple and Apprentice

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 7 was good. It may be my favorite episode of the series so far. And that feels strange to say considering the lack of action or anything too interesting. But, I thought it was a pretty fun episode.

What I thought was fun about the first half was Julie. I enjoyed seeing how she reacted to certain things. For example, when Rudeus got mad at Zanoba, Julie hid behind Zanoba. And when Rudeus got closer to Zanoba, Julie ran away. Seeing her do things like that was cute.

Also, we now know that Julie isn’t a slave. Of course, she was a slave when Rudeus/Zanoba bought her. But, they didn’t brand her as a slave and aren’t treating her as one. Rudeus sees Julie as his apprentice and Zanoba sees Julie as a junior disciple of Rudeus.

Zanoba Shirone crying from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 7
Zanoba Shirone crying

Now, my assumption is that Julie isn’t going to travel with Rudeus when he leaves Ranoa. I don’t know when he’ll be leaving, of course. He might be there for a few years. But, the whole point of buying Julie was so that she could make figures for Zanoba.

So, if Zanoba leaves Ranoa first, Julie’s going to go with him. And if Rudeus leaves Ranoa first, Julie’s going to stay behind with Zanoba. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see Julie again after that. She’s definitely going to appear again later in the series. After all, she’s Rudeus’s apprentice.

I wonder if Julie will ever meet Roxy. It would be pretty cool to see Rudeus’s master and apprentice meet at some point. And, I guess if Julie ever met Roxy, that would mean Zanoba would meet her, as well. He hasn’t met her, right? I actually can’t remember.

Rudeus Doesn’t Know His Own Strength

It was a bit surprising to see that Rudeus underestimated his own strength in this episode. He thought the fight against Linia and Pursena was going to be more difficult than it was. But, shouldn’t he know that he’s way too powerful for his age?

Sure, Rudeus isn’t the most powerful person around. There are others who can easily defeat him. For example, there was that Dragon God guy who basically killed Rudeus in Season 1. Even as Rudeus is now, I doubt he would stand a chance.

What about against someone like Ghislaine? Would Rudeus be able to defeat her? I’m going to say yes. But, it would be a very difficult fight for him due to Ghislaine’s combat experience. However, Linia and Pursena aren’t Ghislaine. They may be beastkin like her. But, they don’t have her training and experience.

Linia Dedoldia attacking Rudeus from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 7
Linia Dedoldia attacking Rudeus

After the fight, Rudeus compares Linia and Pursena to Paul and Eris. He says, “Maybe Paul and Eris were stronger than I thought.” And, I’m not sure why he would compare these girls to Paul. Paul was an S-ranked adventurer. Of course he’s strong. Eris is a better comparison, though, and this shows that she actually has skill.

Anyway, Rudeus should still recognize that he’s far stronger than the other students. They’re students who likely don’t have much practical experience. He’s already traveled across the Demon Continent and fought alongside skilled adventurers. And, that’s not to mention all his skills.

Rudeus can silently cast magic that’s stronger than most people can cast at all. Remember his weather-altering magic? He’s also pretty skilled at physical combat thanks to Ghislaine, Ruijerd, and Eris. And, he has a demon eye that lets him see a few seconds into the future that he got from Kishirika Kishirisu.

The Kidnapping and Confinement of Beast Girls

Season 2 Episode 7 isn’t the first time Rudeus has been involved with the kidnapping of beast girls. Though, the first time, he was on the opposite side of things. Now, he’s the kidnapper instead of the savior.

So, why did Rudeus kidnap Linia and Pursena? He wanted to teach them a lesson for destroying the figure of Roxy he made. Though, halfway through their punishment, he realized it actually doesn’t matter. He seems to have previously forgotten that he can just fix the figure.

Either way, he still needs to teach these girls to respect the property of others. But, he doesn’t know what the best way to do that is. So, he leaves them tied up and gagged in his room for an entire day. And, by the time he comes back with Fitz, they’ve made a mess in his room.

Pursena and Linia looking at Rudeus from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 7
Pursena and Linia looking at Rudeus

What’s funny about this is that the most effective punishment was Rudeus trying to come up with a punishment. After the girls soiled themselves, they weren’t putting up a fight anymore. From that point on, they were obedient. Though, Fitz performed some additional psychological torture on them even after that.

Personally, I’m pretty confident that Rudeus could have avoided the whole kidnapping thing. All he had to do was prove how much stronger he is than both Linia and Pursena. And, name-dropping Ghislaine would have likely helped, as well. After all, Linia is Ghislaine’s niece.

There are two things from this part of the episode that I really liked, though. The first was Linia and Pursena looking at Zanoba and Julie to see how scared they were of Rudeus. And the second was how Pursena started calling Rudeus “Boss.” Pursena is a dog beastkin, and she recognizes Rudeus as the alpha.

Conclusion

What do you think of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 7? Do you like the addition of Julie? Why do you think Rudeus underestimated his own strength? And do you like Linia or Pursena more? Let me know in the comments. I’m on team Pursena, personally.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 6 Review

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 6 Review

Fitz and His Master

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 6 didn’t go where I expected it to. I never thought Rudeus would end up buying a slave. Or, did Zanoba buy her? Either way, what is this, The Rising of the Shield Hero?

Before we get to that, though, there are a few other things I want to go over. And the first has to do with how exactly Sylphiette is going to cure Rudy’s ED. We know from the Man-God that investigating the mass teleportation will help. And by doing so, Rudy has reconnected with Sylphiette — even if he doesn’t realize it.

So, in my review of Episode 5, I laid out a few paths Rudy could go down. And one of these paths — sleeping with Sylphiette — seems more likely now. The previous two arcs and context clues in Episode 6 lead me to believe that.

Rudeus and Fitz from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 6
Rudeus and Fitz

First, how did the previous two arcs go down? In the last arc, Rudy had a chance to sleep with Sara but failed. We can assume this is in part because he doesn’t have much of a relationship with her. But, what about the arc before that?

In the final arc of the first season, Rudy successfully beds Eris (his cousin). Unlike Sara, Eris had a close relationship with Rudy. And who else do we know with a close relationship with Rudy? Sylphiette, the apparent main girl of the current University of Magic arc.

Additionally, Rudy “feels something” when he looks at Fitz, who he assumes is male. Based on his statements, we can assume that feeling might have something to do with arousal. So, how’s he going to feel when he learns that Fitz is Sylphiette? His conflicted feelings will disappear and he’ll add Sylphiette to his body count.

A Casual Trip to the Slave Market

Before we get into the whole slave market thing, I need to mention something I forgot about Zanoba. In the previous review, I was wondering why he would be a special student. Being royalty doesn’t seem to be enough. But, Zanoba is special.

What I forgot is that Zanoba has superhuman strength. Maybe we already know how he came to have this strength and I forgot that, too. But, I’m guessing it’s some kind of divine blessing. The only problem for Zanoba is that he doesn’t seem to have any talent for magic.

Now, the most surprising thing about Episode 6 was the trip to the slave market. When Rudy doesn’t know how to help Zanoba create figures, Sylphiette suggests a slave. And, much to my surprise, Rudy goes along with this and doesn’t see anything wrong with it. Ah, yes, a slave! Of course!

Zanoba Shirone from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 6
Zanoba Shirone

Since this slave is going to make figures for Zanoba, I assume Zanoba is paying. And, well, he’s a member of royalty. So, he shouldn’t have any problem with the price. But, the way Rudy talked about buying a slave made it sound like he was the one making the purchase.

Regardless of who’s putting up the money, Rudy’s the one who goes in as the buyer. He’s the one who picks out the slave and checks to see if she’ll be good for the job. And, between himself, Zanoba, and Sylphiette, he’s the one who’s most comfortable there.

Of course, that’s not to say that Rudy is okay with slavery. He might be. I have no idea. But, of the three, he’s the one who’s already used to seeing the worst of humanity. At this point, even seeing child slaves doesn’t phase him. Which, you know, probably isn’t good.

Juliette the Dwarf

The slave Rudy picks out, in the end, is a 6-year-old dwarf he names Juliette. He selected a dwarf because they’re good at crafting things. And he wanted the slave to be young because that would make teaching them magic easier. And, it would increase their mana capacity.

We can also assume Juliette was pretty cheap as far as slaves go. She’s not a combat slave. And she was malnourished at the time of purchase. Juliette also can’t speak human languages and is unable to read. Though, Rudy should be able to fix both of those problems.

One thing that stood out to me, though, was Juliette’s appearance. She doesn’t look any different than a human. Sure, she’s short. But, she’s also 6 years old. Will she stay short? Is there some other physical distinction between humans and dwarves?

Juliette the dwarf slave from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 6
Juliette the dwarf slave

You can tell an elf apart from a human by their long, pointed ears. But, as far as I can see, there’s nothing about Juliette that stands out as “dwarven” (dwarvish?). So, is there something else that separates dwarves from humans? Do they have some unique ability humans don’t? Is it purely genetic?

Something to keep in mind is that not all non-human races look different than humans. For example, take the demons. A lot of demons don’t look like humans and are obviously demons. However, there are some, like the Migurdia clan, who look exactly like humans.

Did you forget that Roxy isn’t a human? She’s a demon. But, despite looking like humans, the Migurds do have some notable differences. They live much longer, appear young for their age, and can communicate telepathically.

Anyway, we also now know the small girl in the ED is Juliette, not “Miss Silent.”

Conclusion

What do you think of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 6? Are you expecting Rudy to sleep with Sylphiette? Were you surprised by Rudy’s reaction to Sylphiette suggesting buying a slave? And what do you think is the difference between humans and dwarves? Let me know in the comments.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 5 Review

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 5 Review

Ranoa University of Magic

Are you ready to attend the Ranoa University of Magic? Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 5 kicks off a new arc. And, this may have been the first episode of the series to have an actual OP.

Now, I was hoping to get a bit more content of Rudeus and Elinalise traveling together. But, whatever; it’s not a big deal. At least we did learn a little more about Elinalise in this episode. According to her, she has a “curse” that will kill her if she doesn’t have sex.

That sounds fake, but okay, Elinalise.

Shortly after arriving at the university, Rudeus is talking to Jenius, a teacher. He asks Jenius if they study mental illness there. And, at this point, I thought Rudeus was talking about Elinalise’s “curse.” But, no, he’s talking about his own ED.

Elinalise Dragonroad wearing the Ranoa University of Magic uniform from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 5
Elinalise wearing the Ranoa University of Magic uniform

We should also keep in mind that curing his ED is Rudeus’s primary reason for attending the school. Yes, he also wants to learn more about the mass teleportation that happened in Fittoa. And he wants to find Sylphiette, too. But, those issues aren’t as pressing as his impotence.

The Man-God claimed that attending the university would “fix” Rudeus. Specifically, he directed Rudeus to look into the mass teleportation event. But, how is that supposed to solve Rudeus’s problem? My guess is that Sylphiette is the answer.

Learning about the mass teleportation itself isn’t going to help Rudeus. But, reuniting with Sylphiette might.

Once he’s with her again, his confidence may return. Or, you know, we could go down the harem route and he could sleep with her. Either is a viable option at this point. But, considering he ran into “Fitz” in the library, this seems to be what the Man-God intended.

The Special Students of Ranoa

You saw the picture in the previous section. Elinalise Dragonroad also enrolled as a student at the University of Magic. But, unlike Rudeus, she doesn’t appear to be a special student. And, surprisingly, neither is Princess Ariel or Fitz. So, what does it take to be a special student?

As far as we know, there are only six special students currently attending the university. These are Rudeus, Zanoba Shirone, Linia Dedoldia, Pursena, Cliff Grimoire, and “Miss Silent.” I’m going to assume “Miss Silent” is called that due to her demeanor and not because it’s her name.

I’m also going to assume that “Miss Silent” is the small girl we saw with the other special students in the ED. Other than that, we know she spends most of her time in her laboratory. But, what about the other special students?

Linia Dedoldia from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 5
Linia Dedoldia

There’s not much to say about Zanoba. We already know who he is from the first season. However, I wonder what about him makes him qualified to be a special student. Sure, he’s a prince. But he shouldn’t be any more important than Princess Ariel.

Linia Dedoldia is the daughter of Gyes Dedoldia, the older brother of Ghislaine we met in Season 1. Is she a special student because of who her father is? Or does she have a special ability? And as for Pursena, we know nothing about her other than that she’s also a Dedoldian.

To me, Cliff Grimoire is the most interesting special student.

If you don’t already know who Cliff is, it means you need to go watch the Mushoku Tensei Special. The special takes place alongside Part 2 Episode 5 and follows Eris. And in the special, Eris meets Cliff and tells him all about Rudeus. That’s how Cliff knows who Rudeus is.

Fitz Senpai

Princess Ariel has two knights accompanying her at the university. One is “Silent Fitz,” also known as Sylphiette. And the other is Luke Notos Greyrat, cousin of Rudeus Greyrat. The middle name Notos indicates that he’s from the same branch of the family as Paul.

Now, the Greyrat family seems pretty large. So, I’m not surprised that Rudeus doesn’t know all his cousins. But, it appears that Luke is very aware of who Rudeus is. Though, not because of their family ties. He knows all about Rudeus from Sylphiette.

This is a bit surprising. I wasn’t expecting Sylphiette to tell Luke about Rudy. From Episode 0, we know that both Ariel and Luke are aware that Sylphiette is looking for her friend. But, I’m surprised that she told them Rudeus is that friend. Or, maybe they figured it out when they heard his name.

Rudeus holding up a pair of Ariel's panties from the anime series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 5
Rudeus holding up a pair of Ariel’s panties

Even though Luke knows Rudeus is the friend Sylphiette was looking for, he doesn’t tell Rudeus. Instead, he just comments on how Fitz told him that Rudeus is forgetful. Rudeus doesn’t know what Luke means by this. But, it’s pretty clear to us.

The forgetfulness Fitz was referring to is how Rudy doesn’t remember her (Sylphiette). However, I can’t blame Rudy in this instance. Sylphiette’s hair is a completely different color now. She’s also covering a large part of her face with sunglasses. And she’s pretending to be male (despite being in the female dorms).

If Rudeus saw Fitz’s eyes and use of wind magic, he might put it all together and realize who Fitz is. Or, even if he doesn’t realize that, it may point him in the right direction. For example, he may ask Fitz if “he” knows of a green-haired elf named Sylphiette.

Conclusion

What do you think of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 5? Do you believe that Elinalise’s “curse” is real? Which of the special students are you most interested in? And why do you think all of the female students can instantly recognize a pair of panties as belonging to Ariel? Let me know in the comments.
